Investigators from the Kosovo Police Inspectorate (IPK) have arrested a police officer on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of abuse of official position or authority. By order of the prosecutor, the officer has been detained for 48 hours.

Suspension and Investigation Details

Based on legal authorizations, the IPK has also recommended the suspension of the police officer, who was on duty at the Globocica border crossing point, within the Regional Directorate of Border Police East – Kaçanik.

According to the IPK, initial investigative actions suggest that the police officer, by unauthorized use of the border police database, verified and registered the data of a citizen – a Serbian national.

“The citizen was not present at this border crossing point at all, and suspicions are that the police officer made this registration to verify whether the Serbian national was wanted by the police or not,” the statement reads.

IPK investigators, in coordination with the Basic Prosecution in Ferizaj, will undertake further investigative actions to clarify all circumstances of this case.
