Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani met today with Aivo Orav, the Head of the EU Office in Kosovo. Their discussions centered on the current political situation in the country, particularly the ongoing institutional deadlock.

Assembly Constitution and EU Relations in Focus

According to a press release from the Presidency, the two officials focused on the constitution of the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo, the next steps forward, and the impact of the non-constitution on important national processes, as well as on relations with the European Union.

During the meeting, President Osmani also underscored the importance of lifting the EU measures against Kosovo. She further called for the EU to process Kosovo’s application for candidate country status.

“The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, received the Head of the European Union Office in Kosovo, Mr. Aivo Orav, with whom she discussed the current political situation in the country and recent developments.

The meeting focused on the issue of the constitution of the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo, the next steps, the impact of the non-constitution on important processes for the country, as well as on relations with the European Union.

President Osmani and Ambassador Orav also discussed a range of issues related to the relations between Kosovo and the EU, where the President re-emphasized the importance of the full removal of the unfair measures still in force, as well as the processing of Kosovo’s application for candidate country status.”
