On the final day of the constitutional deadline for the formation of Kosovo’s Assembly, civil society organizations are urging all Members of Parliament to seize this last opportunity to fulfill their constitutional duty and pave the way for the establishment of new institutions.
In a press release issued today, the Kosovo Democratic Institute (KDI) emphasized that exiting the current political deadlock is still possible, but it requires political will and leadership.
“Political parties must intensify efforts to reach consensus through compromise and cooperation. Returning to open voting for the Speaker of the Assembly, in line with previous practices, is a key and necessary step toward unblocking the institutional stalemate,” the statement reads.
According to KDI, another failure in the formation process would further deepen the current crisis, leading to serious political, social, and economic consequences for the country.
“We therefore call on political leaders and every MP to act with wisdom, responsibility, and in the spirit of public interest,” KDI added.
Separately, the 53rd constitutive session of the Assembly is scheduled to take place today at 14:00, marking the final day of the deadline set by the Constitutional Court for the Assembly’s formation.
