As part of the European Union Civil Protection Mechanism, a “Canadair” firefighting plane has departed from Italy and will be engaged in aerial operations to extinguish fires in southern Albania. The plane will focus on the areas of Borsh, Piqeras, and Lukovë.

Reinforcing Firefighting Efforts

This aerial asset will strengthen interventions in difficult and inaccessible terrains where firefighting from the ground is challenging. The plane’s assistance is a crucial boost to the country’s efforts to control the blazes.

Meanwhile, Albanian Air Force helicopters are also actively engaged, operating near the village of Zhulat in the Gjirokastër region and in the Qafëbuall area near Bulqizë.
