Swedish human rights and climate activist Greta Thunberg visited Reporting House on July 28, 2025, as part of her two-day trip to Kosovo. During her visit, Thunberg met with youth activists from local organizations and spent two hours at the museum to learn more about the history of activism and civil protests in Kosovo during the 1990s.
She was welcomed by the museum’s producer, Jeta Xharra, and curator Gazmend Ejupi, who, together with young artist Vullnet Jakupi, spoke about the modern art installations on display at Reporting House — including Jakupi’s work about home schools, which reflects on grassroots activism.
Thunberg also toured the gallery section, where the work of 18-year-old Gazan artist Hussein al-Jerjawi, titled “Fragments of Survival,” is currently exhibited. She expressed interest in how Kosovo’s politicians and society are responding to the situation in Gaza.
Accompanied by young local activists, Thunberg thanked the people of Kosovo for their warmth and generosity, saying they made her feel welcome.
Producer Jeta Xharra said she has been following Thunberg’s activism for a long time: “She has become the voice of the future and has very effectively drawn the world’s attention to the climate crisis.”
Xharra also highlighted Thunberg’s activism against injustices happening in Gaza, calling it a privilege to share the story of Kosovo’s own injustices from the 1990s.
Reporting House, opened on June 10, 2024, in the former Gërmia department store building in Pristina, showcases the extensive work of local and international journalists during the Kosovo War.
