Germany has dispatched several firefighting units to help Spain combat devastating wildfires.

A fire in Spain’s northwestern province of Zamora destroyed more forested land on Wednesday, fueled by strong winds.

Spain is currently facing some of the largest wildfires in decades, in what scientists are describing as one of the hottest seasons in the country’s history.

Thousands of firefighters, supported by soldiers and aircraft, have been battling the blazes in the country’s dry forests, particularly in the northwest.

In addition, several firefighting units from Germany have also arrived to provide assistance in the northern regions of the Iberian state, according to AP.
