Erdogan Holds Talks with Putin: Supporting Peace Negotiations

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin held a phone conversation on Wednesday, discussing last week’s Alaska summit between the U.S. and Russian presidents, bilateral trade issues, and Turkey-Russia relations.

“During the call, the outcomes of the Alaska summit and bilateral Turkey-Russia relations, particularly trade ties, were discussed,” the Turkish Directorate of Communications announced on the Turkish social platform NSosyal.

“President Erdogan stated that he is closely following developments related to the peace process, stressing that since the beginning of the war (in Ukraine), Turkey has sincerely worked to achieve a just peace. In this regard, he emphasized support for approaches aimed at establishing a lasting peace with the participation of all parties,” the statement read.

“President Putin, highlighting the Istanbul Process, thanked President Erdogan for hosting the peace talks and for Turkey’s efforts,” it added.
