The Central Election Commission (CEC) will convene this afternoon at 17:00 to review and decide on the certification of thousands of candidates from 36 political entities for participation in the upcoming local elections scheduled for October 12, 2025.
CEC spokesperson Valmir Elezi announced that this involves the fourth group of political parties, civic initiatives, and independent candidates to be certified for the mayoral and municipal assembly races.
👉 So far, the CEC has certified 58 political entities (31 civic initiatives and 27 independent candidates), with a total of 510 candidates — 34 for mayors and 476 for municipal assemblies.
On today’s agenda is also the review of the ECAP (Election Complaints and Appeals Panel) request to certify the participation of the political entity Lidhja e Prishtinës.
🔹 Today’s session is expected to consider certification recommendations for the main political parties, including:
- Vetëvendosje! (VV)
- Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK)
- Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK)
- Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK)
- Social Democratic Initiative (NISMA)
- New Kosovo Alliance (AKR)
- Social Democratic Party (PSD)
- as well as minority community parties: Srpska Lista, KDTP, IRDK, Vakat Coalition, and others.
In total, 36 political entities with their candidates are set to be reviewed for certification or decertification during today’s meeting.
