Six months after the elections, the Assembly of Kosovo has still not been constituted. Although another attempt to elect the Assembly Presidency is scheduled for tomorrow, there are no clear signs of a breakthrough in resolving the deadlock.
Yesterday, Vetëvendosje changed its candidate for the position, nominating Acting Minister of Finance and MP, Hekuran Murati.
He received 57 votes in favor, 52 against, and 6 abstentions. For the first time, in addition to the Social Democratic Initiative (Nisma), MPs from the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) also abstained.
The session chair, Avni Dehari, confirmed that based on the results, the proposed candidate did not secure the required votes to be elected Speaker of the Assembly, and therefore adjourned the session for today.
Tomorrow’s session is scheduled to begin at 11:00.
