Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has declared that Ukraine will not cede any territory to Russia, during a speech marking National Flag Day.

Honoring the symbolism of the Ukrainian flag, Zelensky said it represents “a purpose and a dream for many Ukrainians in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.”

“They hold the flag. They hold it because they know we will not give our land to an invader,” the Ukrainian president emphasized.

He further stated: “This flag symbolizes what is most precious for hundreds of our fighters – men and women – from all over Ukraine who defend not just a specific sector of the frontline, not just Vovchansk or Dobropillia, but the entirety of Ukraine.”

The ceremony took place on the eve of Ukraine’s Independence Day and was attended by the country’s top officials.

Meanwhile, Zelensky reiterated his call for a direct meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, stressing that this is the only way to negotiate an end to the war.
