Richard Grenell, former Special Envoy of President Donald Trump, strongly reacted to Republican congressional candidate Valentina Gomez after a video surfaced showing her burning the Islamic holy book, the Quran.

Grenell emphasized that the U.S. Constitution guarantees religious freedom and criticized Gomez’s action:

“Do not undermine the First Amendment set by our forefathers. The U.S. Constitution guarantees freedom of religion. You do not fully understand our liberties,” Grenell wrote in response to her actions.

Gomez responded on social media: “Richard, Muslims see you as an infidel they want to kill. I see you as my Christian brother.”

Grenell replied, noting that he has many Muslim friends and that Gomez should stop attacking all Muslims.

Gomez’s candidacy for Texas’s 31st District in 2026 has been accompanied by controversial videos in which she promises to “end Islam” in the Lone Star State, where about 1% of the population is Muslim.

In her video, Gomez declared: “Your daughters will be raped and your sons will have their heads cut off if we don’t stop Islam once and for all.” She added, referring to her extreme stance: “I will eradicate Islam in Texas, so help me God.”
