Pope Leo on Wednesday issued a powerful appeal to the international community, calling for an immediate end to the nearly two-year conflict between Israel and Hamas.
He emphasized the urgent need for a permanent ceasefire, the release of hostages, and the delivery of humanitarian aid to affected civilians.
“Once again, I make a strong appeal … that the conflict in the Holy Land, which has caused so much terror, destruction, and death, be brought to an end,” the Pope said during his weekly audience at the Vatican.
“I pray that all hostages will be freed, that a permanent ceasefire will be achieved, that safe access for humanitarian aid be facilitated, and that international humanitarian law be fully respected,” he added.
