Prishtina, August 28, 2025 – A major fire broke out on Wednesday morning in Hajvali, near Prishtina, causing serious material damage to the “Burimi” auto service and a nearby orchard.
According to police sources, the incident occurred on August 27, 2025, around 11:40 AM, on the Gjilani–Hajvali road. The suspect, Muhamet Pira (37), accidentally caused sparks while cutting metal with a welding tool, which ignited dry grass. Within minutes, the flames spread rapidly.
Damage to Vehicles and Orchard
The Fire Brigade intervened and managed to contain the blaze, but not before it caused significant damage.
- The owner of the auto service, B.A. (45), reported that several parked cars were destroyed.
- Another resident, A.A. (58), stated that his pear orchard was burned, leading to losses estimated at €12,000.
Investigation and Legal Proceedings
The suspect, who is reportedly a friend of the auto service owner, was interviewed in the presence of his lawyer. He admitted that the fire was caused accidentally.
Officials from the Fire Investigation Unit and the Directorate of Security and Emergencies of Prishtina Municipality were present at the scene.
By decision of the Duty Prosecutor, the case has been opened as “Causing General Danger”, while the suspect was released under regular procedure.
