Lumir Abdixhiku, Chairman of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), criticized the current situation following the closure of the Assembly session, calling it a prime example of the dangers of populism.
Abdixhiku noted that all of Kosovo is effectively blocked over a minor issue—the fifth Deputy Speaker position in the Assembly.
“The second point to emphasize is that without a political agreement, there can be no solution because there is no majority… At this point, the naivety of other parties becomes evident, as they keep the Assembly blocked and leave the Speaker, Dimal Basha, to act. Today, he not only repeatedly violated the Constitutional Court’s decisions but also misinterpreted the Constitution by stating that the Assembly is constituted,” Abdixhiku said, reports Telegrafi.
He added that, according to the Constitution, the Assembly is considered constituted only when all members of the Assembly leadership are elected.
“This is an unprecedented case of misinterpreting Constitutional Court rulings and the madness of populism,” Abdixhiku said.
