Andriy Parubiy, former Speaker of Ukraine’s Verkhovna Rada, was killed today in Lviv. Around midday, authorities received a report of gunfire in the Sykhiv district.
The attacker, disguised as a food delivery courier, fired eight shots at Parubiy before fleeing on an electric bicycle, hiding the weapon in a bag.
Dramatic footage of the incident is now circulating on social media, showing a masked individual shooting at the 54-year-old. Police are actively searching for the perpetrator and working to establish his identity.
Parubiy, well-known for his political career, led the Ukrainian Parliament from 2016 to 2019. He also served as Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council at various times. In 2014, he briefly held this position, and in 2016, he became Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada following the election of Volodymyr Groysman as Prime Minister.
