The Association “Çamëria” in Kosovo held its fifth Assembly today, electing Nexhmi Muçiqi as its new president, along with a newly appointed leadership team.

In his inaugural address, Muçiqi expressed that he was honored to lead the association and vowed to continue efforts on the Cham issue, which has been the focus of the organization for the past nine years.

“The name ‘Çamëria’ can only be damaged over my dead body,” Muçiqi declared, emphasizing that the fight for recognition and justice will not stop.

He called on Greece to bring the Cham issue to the forefront, stressing that if the current generation fails, the youth will continue the struggle:

“If we cannot achieve this, the younger generation will come and open those doors. Our message to Greek institutions is clear – delaying justice will one day be too late.”

Muçiqi also urged the institutions of Kosovo to provide institutional support, noting that the association’s work is dedicated to national causes and the preservation of Cham history and identity.

Isuf Kuçi, elected secretary of the association, said that “Çamëria” has been one of the key pillars of national activism in Kosovo, organizing dozens of activities, conferences, and awareness campaigns to preserve history and raise the voice against injustices toward Albanians.

Prominent activists also addressed the Assembly:

  • Zenel Krasniqi underlined that the association has consistently carried out meaningful national initiatives since its foundation.
  • Aziz Bytyqi, co-founder of the association, praised Muçiqi as a committed leader, noting his role in establishing branches beyond Albanian territories.
  • Ismail Selmani-Mala, head of the initiative “All for the Fighter”, emphasized the need for unity and engagement:

“In times of war, we held weapons in our hands. In times of peace, we need work, unity, and reason. We have many reasons to demand our land.”

Alongside Kuçi as secretary, Agim Berisha and Fadil Pushkolli were elected vice-presidents. Other members of the leadership include Zenel Krasniqi, Riza Alija, Aziz Bytyqi, Reshat Blakçori, among others.
