The Deputy Chairman of Vetëvendosje Movement, Glauk Konjufca, has downplayed the absence of official congratulations from Kosovo’s top leaders to Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama following the start of his fourth mandate.
Asked by KosovaPress about the silence from institutional leaders in Pristina, Konjufca said that the congratulations will not be missing.
“I am the first to congratulate him,” Konjufca declared after an election rally on Saturday in Shtime.
So far, Kosovo’s state leaders have not officially congratulated Rama, who on 19 September took the oath together with his new cabinet at the Presidency of Albania, marking the beginning of his fourth consecutive four-year term.
“I am not here to comment on these actions; I am here to promote our campaign in Shtime. Congratulations will certainly come for Prime Minister Rama. I am the first to congratulate him from Shtime. As for others, you should ask them. We hope and wish for very good cooperation between our two governments. Congratulations also to all ministers of Mr. Rama’s cabinet,” Konjufca told KosovaPress.
Meanwhile, leaders of other major political parties in Kosovo – including the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK), and Nisma Socialdemokrate – have also not issued any public congratulations to Rama.
On the other hand, Kosovo’s Foreign Minister Donika Gërvalla extended her congratulations today to her new Albanian counterpart, Elisa Spiropali, on her appointment.
