At the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, Slovenian President Natasha Pirc Musar delivered a powerful speech calling for urgent international action to end the bloodshed in Gaza.

“We did not prevent the Holocaust, we did not prevent the genocide in Rwanda, we did not prevent the genocide in Srebrenica. We must stop the genocide in Gaza. There are no more excuses. None,” President Pirc Musar declared in her address.

She stressed that the international community has a moral responsibility to act decisively:

“We must do this for the sake of future generations, to fulfill our responsibility as human beings, and to ensure that we are on the right side of history.”

Her remarks drew attention to the failure of global powers to intervene in past atrocities, urging the United Nations and its members not to repeat the same mistakes in Gaza.
