Danish authorities reported that the drone flights over Aalborg Airport in northern Denmark and three smaller airports across the country were intended to instill fear, officials said Thursday.

The identity of those responsible for the incidents remains unknown.

Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen described the events as a “hybrid attack”, noting that the flights occurred within roughly the same timeframe. He added that it appeared a “professional actor” was behind these systematic operations, without providing further details during a Thursday morning press conference.

Authorities emphasized that there is no risk to the public.

Justice Minister Peter Hummelgaard stated that the flights were meant to create fear and division. He also indicated that Denmark is considering additional measures to neutralize drones, including a proposed law allowing infrastructure owners to shoot them down.
