Serbian Foreign Minister Marko Đurić reacted via his X (formerly Twitter) account to comments made by Serbian politician Borko Stefanović, who claimed that only President Aleksandar Vučić was absent from former U.S. President Donald Trump’s reception.
In his response, Đurić clarified that President Vučić was indeed invited by Trump to attend the reception organized for all leaders. However, Đurić explained, Vučić could not attend due to scheduling conflicts with other meetings at the same time.
Đurić further emphasized that Vučić was the only European politician to have a full meeting with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, contrasting this with other officials who only posed for photos in the corridor. In this context, he also referenced Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani, noting that unlike Vučić, some leaders, including her, only had brief photo opportunities rather than formal meetings.
Đurić wrote:
“Our President is the only European leader to have a full meeting with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio. In other words, not just a corridor selfie, as was the case for officials from some other countries and territories.”
