France, Germany, and Sweden announced on Monday that they will send military personnel and anti-drone systems to Denmark to strengthen security ahead of this week’s summits in Copenhagen, following drone incursions that forced Denmark to close several airports.
Denmark will host EU leaders on Wednesday, followed by a larger summit on Thursday for the 47 members of the European Political Community.
The Swedish Prime Minister said his country would deploy anti-air systems and radars. Additionally, the Stockholm Police will mobilize a significant force in Copenhagen, with participation from Norway.
France announced it would send a military helicopter and a team of 35 personnel, while Germany will deploy 40 soldiers to Copenhagen to assist with the identification and detection of drones.
On Sunday, Denmark ordered a ban on civilian drone flights after incursions were recorded near military infrastructure.
At a press conference following a meeting of foreign ministers from Poland, France, Germany, and Ukraine, German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul stated that no country should be left to face Russia’s hybrid warfare alone.
