Albanian President Bajram Begaj has revealed details of his recent meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump, describing it as a moment of pride for Albania.
In an interview with Top Channel, Begaj recalled Trump’s words during their exchange: “Albania is doing a great job.” According to Begaj, this statement reflects the long-standing friendship and strategic partnership between the two nations.
Begaj emphasized that under Trump’s leadership, relations between Albania and the United States are expected to further strengthen, particularly in the economic, tourism, energy, and military sectors.
“Under the Trump administration, cooperation will grow stronger, especially in the fields of economy and defense. I believe sectors of mutual interest, such as tourism, energy, and security, will see new recognition and further advancement,” Begaj stated.
The meeting took place during the United Nations General Assembly in New York (September 22–27, 2025), where Begaj and First Lady Armanda Begaj attended a reception hosted by President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump.
On social media, Begaj described the U.S.–Albania friendship as “a strong and unbreakable bond, a historic and strategic alliance.”
