The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP) of Serbia reported that two Bosnian citizens, identified as M.S. (30) and S.R. (22), were stopped and detained near Pionirski Park in Belgrade last night for not having registered residence in Serbia.

During the police search, authorities found metal brass knuckles and a phone mask featuring symbols of the Albanian flag on M.S., the MUP statement noted.

“A misdemeanor complaint will be filed against both individuals under the Law on Foreigners, while M.S. will also face charges under the Law on Weapons and Ammunition,” the statement added.

The ministry did not clarify whether the detainees had any connection with groups currently occupying a major thoroughfare at Pionirski Park, in front of the Serbian Parliament. For more than four months, pro-government supporters of the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) have been blocking the area as a counter-response to mass anti-government protests ongoing in Serbia since November of last year.
