The Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs of Albania has officially responded to Serbian Foreign Minister Marko Đurić following his statement on 4 October 2025, in which he referenced the so-called “yellow house” in Albania.
In its reaction, Albania emphasized that such statements aim to tarnish the image of Albania and Kosovo, a goal that is unacceptable. The ministry highlighted that the statement relies on the now-discredited Dick Marty report, which has been thoroughly investigated by both domestic and international authorities. The report’s allegations, Albania stressed, are a complete fabrication without factual evidence.
“False claims, internationally recognized as attempts to damage the reputation of Albania and Kosovo, cannot be used to avoid historical responsibility. History cannot be rewritten with rhetoric; it is remembered with accountability,” the statement read.
The ministry further criticized Serbia’s attempt to resurrect past tensions in a region striving toward progress, calling the accusations baseless. It reaffirmed historical facts, noting that the tragic events of 1999 led to killings, ethnic cleansing, and the forced displacement of nearly one million Kosovo Albanians.
Albania condemned any attempts to invert the roles of victim and aggressor, calling such efforts unacceptable and contrary to the peace and reconciliation the region needs.
“Only through mutual respect, reconciliation, and sincere regional cooperation can we fully liberate ourselves from the shadows of the past and build a future of peace, security, and prosperity in a united Balkan within our European family,” the statement emphasized.
Albania concluded by reaffirming its commitment to comprehensive regional cooperation based on good-neighborly relations, dignity, and responsibility to citizens.
Background: On 4 October 2025, the Serbian Foreign Ministry accused Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani of using “militant language” by comparing President Vučić to historical figures and promoting “peace at all costs,” claiming this marginalizes the Serbian population and increases international pressure due to failed normalization efforts.
