The caretaker Government of the Republic of Kosovo, in today’s meeting, approved eight new decisions focused primarily on supporting vulnerable families and students.
According to the Ministry of Finance, Labour and Transfers, the government has allocated €6 million for a one-time financial aid of €100 for each student, marking the start of the new academic year.
Additionally, the government approved a €20 million Mobility Scholarship, designed to assist students from below-average income families, depending on the distance between their place of residence and their university.
To support families in need, €1 million has been allocated for the distribution of food packages in cooperation with civil society organizations — ensuring that state assistance reaches those often left outside standard welfare mechanisms.
The government also approved a subsidy program for energy costs aimed at vulnerable consumers. Under this measure, partial or full payments of electricity bills will be covered directly in the consumers’ accounts for families with monthly incomes below €150 per member.
Furthermore, €2.5 million has been earmarked for the purchase of schoolbooks and educational materials for the 2025/2026 school year, completing full state coverage for students’ learning materials.
Other allocations include:
- €50,000 for the integration of cultural heritage into spatial planning, as part of agreements with UN bodies.
- €150,000 for the implementation of joint projects under cooperation agreements with UN institutions, upon the request of the Prime Minister’s Office (ZKM).
The Ministry emphasized that details regarding the €100 student grant, the Mobility Scholarship, and the energy subsidy program — including eligibility criteria, application procedures, and payment timelines — will be announced in the coming days.
