The caretaker Prime Minister Albin Kurti has informed the Speaker of the Assembly Dimal Basha that Vetëvendosje Movement (LVV), as the winning party of the February elections, is ready to submit the name of its nominee for Prime Minister to President Vjosa Osmani, in line with legal procedures.

Speaker Basha announced the meeting through a Facebook post, stating that the discussion with Kurti followed the formal conclusion of the constitutive session of the Assembly of Kosovo, which began on April 15, 2025, and was officially closed today, October 10, 2025, after the election of the fifth deputy speaker, Nenad Rašić, representing the Serb community.

“With Prime Minister Kurti, we underlined the importance of proceeding toward the voting of the new institutions deriving from the Assembly of Kosovo. On this occasion, the Prime Minister informed me that Ms. Arbërie Nagavci, Chair of the General Council of Vetëvendosje, as the representative of the winning party, will submit the name of the nominee for forming the new Government to the President, in accordance with legal procedures,” Basha wrote.

During the meeting, Kurti also gifted Basha a painting titled ‘Pranvera Shqiptare’ (Albanian Spring) — a work by Rexhep Selimi, who is currently on trial in The Hague.

Caretaker Prime Minister Kurti also confirmed the meeting, noting that the discussion focused on institutional coordination and the upcoming priorities in this new phase of institutional functioning.

“I once again congratulated him on his new position and gifted him Rexhep Selimi’s painting ‘Pranvera Shqiptare’, as a symbol of a new beginning and our shared commitment to serve the citizens,” Kurti wrote.

However, Kurti’s post did not explicitly mention whether the issue of the Prime Ministerial nominee was part of their conversation.
