The Kosovo Police have finalized their operational planning for the local elections scheduled for tomorrow, through the preparation of a comprehensive police operational order.

To ensure the safety and smooth conduct of the electoral process, a sufficient number of police officers from various units across Kosovo will be deployed.

The operational plan is organized into four phases:

  1. Pre-election/preparatory evaluation period
  2. Security provision during the pre-election campaign
  3. Key day of elections (D-Day) — ensuring safety and order
  4. Post-election period — including secure transport and protection of sensitive election materials until the process is completed

Additional measures include appointing police coordinators to work closely with the Central Election Commission (CEC) and other institutions involved, as well as issuing a guideline for police officers detailing their legal responsibilities during the elections.

The objectives of this operational order include:

  • Creating a calm and safe environment for all citizens of Kosovo and maintaining public order and security before, during, and after the elections.
  • Ensuring the security of voting centers, municipal election councils, municipal depots, result counting centers, and central depots.
  • Safe transport and protection of all sensitive election materials to designated destinations according to the security plan.
  • Initiating and prosecuting any criminal acts against voting rights and taking all necessary procedural and legal measures against anyone violating laws governing free and democratic elections, in coordination with the State Prosecutor.

The Kosovo Police also call on all election stakeholders and citizens to report any suspicious information or security-related issues to competent authorities via the emergency line 192, the email [email protected], or the nearest police station, to ensure immediate legal action.
