The Kosovo Police announced that the operational plan for ensuring the smooth conduct of the elections was successfully implemented across the entire territory of Kosovo. According to the official statement, the plan aimed to provide security, maintain order, calm, and public safety before, during, and after the elections.
Thanks to the dedication of police officers, inter-institutional cooperation, and coordination with justice institutions, the election process proceeded calmly and without major incidents that could undermine voting rights.
The police highlighted that one of the plan’s objectives was to initiate and process any criminal acts against voting rights. In this context, two cases of “violating the secrecy of the vote” were initiated: one in the village of Bare in South Mitrovica, and another in Kllokot under the Gjilan Regional Directorate.
Additionally, 11 cases of suspected “voting photography” were recorded. With the authorization of competent prosecutors, these cases were treated as official notes. Individuals involved were interviewed and subsequently released under standard procedures.
Regarding a firearms incident in Komoran, which involved a damaged vehicle and the detention of two individuals, the police clarified that this was not related to the election process. Investigations are ongoing under the authorization of the Prosecutor’s Office.
Throughout election day, approximately ten other reports related to the process were handled, but none were deemed criminal offenses.
The Kosovo Police assessed that the police plan was successfully executed, thanks to the professionalism of officers, inter-institutional cooperation, and a high level of civic culture. The institution thanked citizens, media, and all relevant institutions for their cooperation and integrity throughout the electoral process.
