The Organization of Veterans of the Kosovo Liberation Army (OVL-UÇK) has strongly condemned the recent decision by the Hague-based Special Court, which rejected most of the evidence presented by Jakup Krasniqi’s defense documenting Serbian crimes during the Kosovo War.
In an official statement, OVL-UÇK described the court’s ruling as “unacceptable” and a further indication of the one-sided approach of the tribunal.
“This decision represents yet another attempt to present the Kosovo liberation struggle outside its historical context, while ignoring the crimes and massacres committed by Serbian forces that caused destruction and genocide in our country,” the statement reads.
The organization emphasized that dismissing evidence of Serbian atrocities is equivalent to denying the truth and the suffering of the Kosovar people, who fought for freedom. OVL-UÇK further stated that this ruling is an insult to justice and Kosovo’s historical memory.
“This unjust decision is yet another reason to protest and raise our voices against the injustice being done to Kosovo’s liberators,” the statement concludes.
The veterans’ reaction comes after the Special Court in The Hague rejected key defense evidence in the trial of UÇK leaders, including Hashim Thaçi, Jakup Krasniqi, Kadri Veseli, and Salih Selimi, ruling that the evidence on Serbian crimes was irrelevant to the case.
