During her speech at the University of Berlin, President Vjosa Osmani stated that Serbia, acting as Russia’s extended hand, continuously seeks to undermine Kosovo’s sovereignty through destabilization, disinformation, and support for criminal-terrorist groups.

However, Osmani emphasized that Kosovo does not fear. The answer to an aggressor disguised as a peacemaker, according to her, is to maintain strong alliances.

“Kosovo will not be intimidated. We know how aggressors act, what they can do, and what they will do if we do not stop them together. Ultimately, the answer to violence is the rule of law, the answer to propaganda is truth, the answer to fear is renewed collective courage, and most importantly, the answer to an aggressor disguised as a peacemaker is strong alliances. Only alliances of democracies can push back those who aim to turn us back,” Osmani said.

Osmani, speaking on the topic “Defending Democracy in the 21st Century: Lessons from Europe’s Newest Republic”, highlighted three key lessons for protecting democracy:

  1. Freedom must never be taken for granted. Europe has learned this repeatedly. Freedom must be defended daily, through unity against aggressors.
  2. There can be no peace without justice, she continued, emphasizing the inseparable link between democratic stability and accountability.
