U.S. President Donald Trump has called Russian President Vladimir Putin’s announcement of a successful nuclear-powered missile test “inappropriate,” urging that Putin should focus on ending the war in Ukraine instead.

Speaking to reporters during his Asia tour, Trump said, This war, which was supposed to last a week, is now entering its fourth year. Putin should focus on this war instead of testing missiles.”

Putin announced the successful test of the Burevestnik nuclear-powered missile, praising it as a “unique weapon” with a range of up to 14,000 kilometers. Russian General Staff Chief Valery Gerasimov stated that the missile remained in flight for about 15 hours, covering the full range, and claimed its technical capabilities allow it to strike heavily protected targets at any distance.

Putin has ordered the preparation of infrastructure for deploying Burevestnik within the Russian armed forces. He initially announced the missile program in 2018, claiming it could overcome all existing interception systems.
