Former Minister of Finance and head of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) parliamentary group, Hykmete Bajrami, has sharply criticized the caretaker government of Albin Kurti after it proposed the 2026 state budget.
In a statement posted on social media, Bajrami accused Kurti’s administration of being “usurped” by the Vetëvendosje parliamentary group, arguing that the proposed budget and salary increases are politically motivated and come just days before the expected announcement of early elections.
“The Vetëvendosje parliamentary group, which has usurped the government offices, approved today the 2026 budget. There is a possibility that the budget could reach €8 billion, with salaries and pensions increasing severalfold, at a time when the country is awaiting the call for early elections,” Bajrami wrote.
She warned that such financial moves could lead the country toward economic collapse, adding that while the Special Prosecution failed to stop this “masquerade,” the people will stop it through their vote.
“The state is being driven toward ruin. The prosecution could have stopped this. Now, it must be stopped through the ballot – and we will stop it with our vote,” she concluded.
