Acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti made an unusual prediction about his future political path and that of French Ambassador to Kosovo Olivier Guerot, whose diplomatic mandate in Kosovo is nearing its end.
Speaking at a reception organized by the French Embassy in Kosovo to mark France’s National Day, Kurti joked that he could one day represent Kosovo in Paris.
“Ten days ago, we celebrated the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution, and in thirteen years we will also celebrate the 250th anniversary of the French Revolution. By then, in 2039, I may have learned the French language very well, so that I could become Kosovo’s ambassador in Paris, while France may have had many prime ministers by then, allowing Olivier to become Minister of Foreign Affairs,” Kurti said.
Kurti then praised Ambassador Guerot’s work, saying that his engagement had brought Kosovo and France even closer.
“This evening has a special significance, as it marks your final National Day in Kosovo in your capacity as ambassador. During your mandate, you have represented your country with dignity and engaged with our country with openness and respect, bringing our two countries even closer,” Kurti said.
