At today’s session of the Kragujevac City Assembly, Milan Tanović, president of GO POKS Kragujevac, compelled all councilors to observe a minute of silence in honor of the victims of the Novi Sad tragedy on the anniversary of their deaths.
The city authorities hesitated for nearly two minutes, exchanging glances, before finally following the mayor’s signal to pay their respects.
Tanović criticized the government’s lack of initiative:
“This omission is unacceptable. The authorities, as part of preparing for the Assembly session, should have called on the councilors to show solidarity at the very start, rather than waiting for an opposition councilor to point it out,” Tanović said on behalf of GrO POKS Kragujevac.
The episode underscores the government’s passive stance and reluctance to publicly acknowledge the tragedy without external pressure.
