Kosovo’s President Vjosa Osmani has reacted strongly to the kidnapping of a Kosovo citizen by Serbian gendarmerie inside Kosovo’s territory, calling the act a direct attack on the country’s sovereignty and on regional peace.

Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, President Osmani stated that, based on initial information from witnesses and family members, the kidnapped citizen was intentionally shot in order to be killed, before being forcibly taken away by Serbian forces.

“There is reason to believe that this was not only a violation of sovereignty but also a deliberate attack on a Kosovo citizen with the intent to kill him,” Osmani said.

She added that Kosovo’s relevant institutions, in close cooperation with international allies, are carefully investigating the exact location of the incident and that a full report is expected soon.

“This is not just a provocation — it is an attack that endangers peace and stability not only in our border area but across the entire region,” President Osmani warned.

Kosovo’s authorities have accused Serbia of violating its territorial integrity, after Kosovo Police reported that on November 1st, in the Leposaviq area, a Kosovo citizen of Serbian ethnicity, identified by initials M.V., was allegedly shot and abducted by members of the Serbian gendarmerie.

This incident adds to growing concerns about Serbia’s repeated cross-border provocations and hostile actions, raising questions about Belgrade’s commitment to peace and international law.
