The European Union has officially confirmed the violation of the rights of Albanians in Serbia, according to the latest European Commission Progress Report on Serbia.

In a Facebook post, Kosovo’s Acting Deputy Prime Minister Besnik Bislimi stated that the report acknowledges Serbia’s ongoing failure to respect the rights of national minorities, including Albanians in Presheva, Bujanoc, and Medvegja.

“The report highlights that the institutional framework for the protection of minorities remains incomplete and that Albanians continue to face discrimination, underrepresentation, and the administrative ‘passivization’ of addresses,” Bislimi said.

He added that these practices amount to a systematic policy aiming at the ethnic cleansing of Albanians through administrative means.

“This passivization, which has been taking place for years, is finally being recognized by the EU as a serious issue, reflected in the European Commission’s official report, emphasizing the need for strict oversight of these procedures,” Bislimi noted.

The report also points out that public television broadcasting in minority languages remains insufficient, while hate speech by Serbian politicians and media against minorities has persisted.

Bislimi emphasized that Kosovo will continue to raise these issues at all international levels until equality, dignity, and the rights of Albanians in Serbia are fully guaranteed.
