Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that Lithuania will assist Ukraine with gas supplies as the country prepares for another harsh winter under wartime conditions. The announcement came after talks with Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda, as reported by Ukrinform.

“Lithuania has been helping us a lot since the beginning of this war, and we greatly appreciate all the support provided. Now, before the onset of winter, when we need energy support, Lithuania is again ready to help us. Gitanas offered support with gas,” Zelensky said on X.

The two leaders also discussed security threats from Belarus, including potential hybrid attacks involving migrants and aerial incursions. Zelensky said Ukraine stands ready to assist Lithuania in strengthening regional defense cooperation.

“We will work to ensure greater security in our region and in friendly Lithuania. We also agreed on our positions in diplomacy and coordinated measures for the near future,” he added.

Zelensky further briefed Nausėda on the situation at the front, emphasizing that Ukrainian forces are holding their defensive lines despite Russian disinformation campaigns.

Lithuania’s continued assistance comes at a crucial time, as Ukraine faces a $750 million shortfall in the $2 billion needed to import gas for the heating season. The Baltic nation has consistently stood out as one of Kyiv’s most vocal and reliable allies in both humanitarian and energy support — a sharp contrast to the wavering commitment of some larger European states.
