Tragic incidents linked to rogue waves have left three people dead and 15 injured on the island of Tenerife, Spain.
The first incident occurred at Roque de Las Bodegas beach in Taganana, where six French tourists were swept into the water after being hit by large waves. Local police confirmed that the victims ignored a safety barrier installed in the area.
- One woman sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to the Universitary Hospital Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria.
- Four others were hospitalized, and a fifth received treatment at the scene.
In a separate event at El Cabezo de Granadilla de Abona on the southern coast, the body of a man was found floating in the sea. Coastal guards and the Canary Islands Emergency Service performed CPR, but he could not be revived.
Authorities have urged beachgoers to respect safety warnings, especially in areas known for strong waves and unpredictable sea conditions.
