The State Prosecutor’s Office has announced that three individuals have been detained for crimes related to voting rights during the second round of municipal elections.
Around 80 prosecutors and prosecutorial personnel have been working to ensure the smooth conduct of the electoral process. Throughout the day, the Prosecutor’s Office received several reports, and after verification, it was determined that only two cases involved criminal offenses against voting rights.
- Case 1 – Fushë Kosova: Two individuals were detained on suspicion of “giving or receiving a bribe related to voting” under Article 212 of the Kosovo Penal Code. Both were detained for 48 hours by order of the State Prosecutor.
- Case 2 – Klina: One individual was detained for “violating the secrecy of the vote” under Article 215 of the Penal Code, also for 48 hours.
The Prosecutor’s Office emphasized that prosecutors will continue to oversee vote counting at polling stations until the ballots reach municipal counting centers. The office also thanked citizens, media, and civil society for their cooperation in preventing and addressing criminal offenses related to the elections.
