Renowned actor Robert De Niro will take part in an international film project focusing on the Kosovo War and the tragic Reçak massacre, Kosovar producer Fitim Krasniqi has confirmed.
The film is based on a deeply personal story – that of Krasniqi’s father – intertwined with the events of the conflict and the massacre in Reçak. Krasniqi revealed that De Niro will portray his father, bringing the dramatic experiences of Kosovar families during the war to the big screen.
“It’s the story of my father and the Reçak massacre, a narrative covering everything from the beginning to the end of the Kosovo War,” Krasniqi said in an interview.
Krasniqi also shared the harrowing story of his father, who was wounded and later burned alive during the war, an event that will form the emotional core of the film, carrying a powerful human message.
The project will feature 71 actors from Hollywood, with contracts already signed. Filming is scheduled to begin next year, following a temporary organizational delay.
This film aims to shed light on one of the darkest chapters in Kosovo’s history while combining personal narratives with international cinematic expertise.
