Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani has highlighted the importance of preserving national memory and justice for war victims in relation to the Kosovo Institute of War Crimes.
She met with the Institute’s director, Atdhe Hetemi, and his team, emphasizing that every life lost during the war represents a painful memory, and that without protecting the truth, justice, and memory, true peace cannot be achieved.
“In my meeting with Director Atdhe Hetemi and his dedicated team, I emphasized that justice for children, women, and all war victims is our greatest duty as a state and society. Every life lost is a painful reminder that without protecting the truth, without justice, and without memory—there can be no true peace,” Osmani wrote.
The President added:
“The Institute is not just an archive—it is the conscience of our nation, a testament to the sacrifices upon which our freedom was built. Therefore, documented truth will be heard and will live on.”
Osmani also called on citizens, researchers, and the youth of Kosovo to protect and preserve this memory, stressing that ensuring justice for children, women, and all war victims remains a shared national responsibility.
