Acting Deputy Prime Minister of Kosovo, Besnik Bislimi, has today informed the European Union Special Representative for the Kosovo–Serbia Dialogue, Peter Sørensen, regarding the systematic obstacles being imposed on Albanians in Presheva, Bujanovc, and Medvegje.
According to Bislimi, Serbian authorities have blocked three consecutive payments intended for the provision of school textbooks and the institutional support of the Albanian National Council, amounting to €304,511.16.
“This is not a technical error, but a deliberate administrative model aimed at obstructing lawful and transparent support for the Albanian community in the Valley,” Bislimi stated.
He added that 3,650 Albanian students in the Valley are currently using 35,448 textbooks financed by the Government of Kosovo, while the government has fulfilled all legal and institutional obligations for this process.
Kosovo’s institutions, according to Bislimi, have provided the European Union with all documentary evidence regarding the blocked funds, including banking communications and official decisions.
“Kosovo cannot remain indifferent when administrative mechanisms are being used to undermine the rights of Albanians in Presheva, Bujanovc, and Medvegje,” Bislimi emphasized.
