Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić condemned Croatia and Slovenia for backing the proposal to lift European Union sanctions on Kosovo, while highlighting that France and Hungary opposed the initiative.
Vučić accused Croatia of pursuing a “doctrinal strategy to dismantle the Serbian state,” but added that he “wishes them well.” He also claimed that Croatia sees his removal from power as a priority, interpreting this as a sign that he is “the best thing for Serbia.”
He stated, “I wish them all the best. I am confident that Serbia and Croatia will have much better relations in the future,” as reported by Direktno.rs. Vučić further complained that over the past year, more than 25,000 articles were published against him in Croatian media, with only 50 being neutral and none positive.
The Serbian president also criticized the lack of public information in Serbia regarding France’s support for Serbia at the EU Foreign Affairs Council meeting on lifting Kosovo sanctions. He stressed that, despite common narratives favoring Hungary due to Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, the role of France and Italy as allies is often overlooked.
Vučić urged Serbian citizens not to label Germans as “Nazis”, warning that such rhetoric is false and damaging to Serbia.
Kosovo has been under EU sanctions since June 2023, imposed due to tensions in northern municipalities. The lifting of these sanctions is conditional on transferring authority to the Serb community following local elections in which the Serb List won in 10 municipalities.
