Russia carried out new drone and missile attacks on Kyiv on Tuesday, Ukrainian officials reported, resulting in seven deaths, 21 injuries, and damage to the electricity and heating infrastructure.
President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Russian forces launched over 460 drones and 22 missiles, marking the second major attack on the capital this month. Ukrainian air forces reported that they shot down most of the drones and roughly half of the missiles.
“The main targets were the energy sector and everything that keeps normal life functioning,” Zelensky wrote on Telegram.
In recent days, Ukrainian, European, and American officials have held several rounds of discussions. Kyiv signaled support for a peace agreement framework, while noting that sensitive issues remain unresolved.
“What matters most now is that all partners move towards diplomacy together through joint efforts. Pressure on Russia must yield results,” Zelensky said, urging for unhindered supply of weapons and air defense for Kyiv.
He also reported that four Russian drones flew over neighboring countries, including Moldova and Romania (a NATO member). Romania responded by scrambling fighter jets to intercept the drones near its border with Ukraine.
