The Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) has called on the diaspora to exercise their right to vote in the early parliamentary elections on 28 December.

During a press conference, former LDK MP Armend Zemaj also discussed the ongoing talks between LDK leader Lumir Abdixhiku and NISMA Socialdemokrate leader Fatmir Limaj.

Zemaj emphasized that the diaspora voting process is a state matter, not a party matter:

LDK welcomes this process and sees it as an integral part of a transparent and inclusive democracy. We invite all citizens living abroad who cannot be in Kosovo on election day to exercise their constitutional right to vote. Their voice matters, their vote counts, and their participation is crucial for the future of our country.”

He also warned about attempts to exert political pressure on the diaspora vote:

“We call on VV to stay away from any attempts to interfere with this process, whether through postal voting or voting at consulates and embassies. Respecting the diaspora voting process is an institutional obligation, not a political option.

Zemaj concluded by highlighting the historical importance of the Kosovo diaspora:

“The diaspora has always been the pillar of our state-building processes, standing with us in difficult times and providing reasoned and decisive support for the good of our country.”
