The Municipal Assembly of Prishtina approved today the transfer of budget funds from 2024 into the 2025 fiscal year, a move aimed at stabilizing municipal finances and ensuring the uninterrupted functioning of several key public enterprises, including Urban Traffic.

The proposal received broad political support, backed by both Vetëvendosje (VV) and the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), securing 38 votes in favor and one abstention.

According to municipal officials, a total of €28 million will be transferred, enabling the municipality to address outstanding debts and restart essential public services that have faced operational difficulties due to financial constraints.

Meanwhile, the vote on the 2026 municipal budget was postponed and is expected to be addressed in the next session of the Assembly.

Mayor Përparim Rama expressed optimism that the Ministry of Finance will soon release an additional €35 million currently blocked, stressing that these funds are critical for advancing major infrastructure and service projects across the capital.
