The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO) carried out procedural inspections in the office of Andriy Yermak, Chief of Staff to President Volodymyr Zelensky, the agencies confirmed on 28 November.
The agencies stated that the actions are part of an ongoing investigation and that further details will be released at a later stage. Ukrainian media outlet Ukrayinska Pravda reported from the scene, publishing photographs of investigators entering the government district in Kyiv, but provided no additional specifics.
Yermak’s office confirmed full cooperation with the investigators. Yermak himself wrote on Telegram:
“Today, NABU and SAPO are conducting procedural actions at my residence. Investigators face no obstacles. They have been given full access, and my lawyers are present, interacting with law enforcement officials. I have offered complete cooperation.”
The exact nature of the investigation and Yermak’s legal status have not been disclosed.
Yermak is considered one of Ukraine’s most influential officials and recently led the Ukrainian delegation in Geneva negotiations with the United States on potential agreements to end the war in Ukraine.
The inspections come amid a recent corruption scandal in Ukraine, involving the diversion of funds intended to protect the country’s energy infrastructure. Several individuals connected to President Zelensky have reportedly been implicated.
