Former Minister of Internal Affairs, Bejtush Gashi, has commented on the continued absence of an indictment from Kosovo’s judicial institutions regarding the attack on the Ibër-Lepenec canal in Varagë, which took place a year ago.

Gashi emphasized that the case is extremely complex, noting that the investigation is not straightforward because the attack targeted critical infrastructure, which has ripple effects across multiple sectors.

He also highlighted that due to coordination with international institutions, including the FBI, the investigation process is lengthy. “The interest of the United States and other international actors in this case is exceptionally high,” Gashi said, stressing that the two individuals currently being questioned are only part of a broader investigative lead.

Gashi concluded by stating that accurately identifying the perpetrators and the mastermind requires a careful, time-consuming procedure, with significant international cooperation.
