Gëzim Sveçla, an assembly member from Vetëvendosje (VV), announced that the Ministry of Finance, through the Treasury, has transferred €28 million of the municipality’s own revenue to the Prishtina Municipality, following an extraordinary assembly session held last Thursday.

“The Ministry of Finance has completed its work, and the Treasury has transferred the funds. Tomorrow, the Prishtina Municipality can begin utilizing them,” Sveçla told Koha.

He added that €25 million of the total is earmarked for capital investments, emphasizing the importance of monitoring how the funds will be used.

The transfer follows a special assembly session on 27 November, which approved moving municipal own-source revenues from 2024 into 2025, totaling €28 million. The vote saw 38 assembly members in favor and one abstention.

Prishtina Mayor Përparim Rama had previously stated that he expected the Ministry of Finance to transfer the funds on the same day, enabling the payment of overdue municipal bills and ending the strike by Urban Traffic public transport operators, who had protested over unpaid debts. The municipality had previously blamed the Ministry of Finance for the delays.
