Workers of the public transport sector in Prishtina continued their protests today, insisting on the immediate execution of their salaries so they can return to work.
Elmi Gashi, representative of the Urban Traffic workers, stated:
“Until funds are allocated to the bank accounts of Urban Traffic and the private sector, we will continue protesting from 10:00 to 12:00 every day. This will continue until the money reaches our accounts.”
Ismet Haliti, secretary of the Private Bus Operators Association, urged responsible institutions to transfer the funds without further delay, noting that:
“The worst affected are the citizens left without transport. They are suffering the most. The sooner the funds are released, the sooner transport can resume.”
The Municipality of Prishtina has not issued any statement regarding the situation as of Monday. Analysts from the GAP Institute warn that expectations for a one-day budget fix are unrealistic, given ongoing financial constraints.
For a full week now, public buses in Prishtina have not operated, forcing residents to rely on expensive or inconvenient alternatives.
